STD Facts - Human papillomavirus (HPV)

i'm thumbing this up because there's a stumbler on here that has some, well, misinformation on her website. she said that when she had an irregular pap (yes. i said pap. suck it up guys) her clinician prescribed her three antibiotics to get rid of her HPV.

it's called human papilloma VIRUS. like cold, and flu. like HIV. viruses don't respond to antibiotics. they aren't curable.

not that i'm judging the stumbler (and obviously neither is anyone else - her first post is all about her std and crotch infections yet she has over 700 fans - mostly men. probably helps that she's hot) - the majority of sexually active people have been exposed, that's why it's such a nasty STD. but don't believe it can be "cured" because it can't. so, use a condom! (said in a sing song trill) and don't believe everything you read on the web.

and if you don't believe me, ask her:

with a name like that, she MUST know.

stolen from dr.k, who would also know.

and note: i do agree with her about probiotics - sometimes they won't do the trick and antibiotics are necessary. but probiotics like acidophilus are a good thing to take especially if you're ON antibiotics. and, she is right - you are what you eat. healthy bodies fight off infection like a light saber fights off stormtroopers.

i had the pleasure of cuddling with THE CUTEST little wirehaired griffon named oliver yesterday. his little mellow puppy lump just melted into me, with a little nose lick that gave me a whiff of my favorite smell - puppy breath. yes - puppy breath. i love it to pieces.

they're like a lab and a spaniel and a wirey haired thing all rolled into one.

*sigh* puppy love. it's the best thing.

i was watching part of this tonight while stretching out my 2398423 billion cramps from my first running group (oh fuck i'm going to die. but i'm determined.) it was really sad, how a shy but otherwise normal guy went nuts and shot students at dawson college in montreal.

what i found most interesting (but not surprising) was how when he became introverted, he turned to the internet for friends. how he became this other "online person" who was tough and somewhat dangerous but the real life kimveer was very vulnerable and lonely. you see that happen on EVERY social networking sites (not just goth/vampire ones). it happens here.

but what got my attention most was not how people he was trying to befriend found him so creepy (big surprise)but how they would call him out for being a creep. this happens all the time on SU. and while i think many of these (mostly women) people who call these guys out on SU are totally justified - we deserve to be able to be in the internet universe and not be harassed by pervy douchebags - and most of these stellar people i'm happy to have in my mutual friend list, it can sometimes go too far. in this guys case, it helped pushed him over the edge to terrorize a school and kill an innocent person.

so, i guess as much as it's entertaining sometimes to call these guys out, sometimes i guess we just should maybe not be too harsh. it's not in my nature to be mean - well, most of the time. i don't like hurting anyone's feelings (but i will sometimes laugh and point if they're not looking). often we forget that the person on the end of the internet has feelings too.

sometimes i still feel a bit bad about big stan. ok, not really. but i probably should. just a little. but only a tiny, tiny, tiny bit. tiny.

my future dream home will have a green roof. i wish my office had a green roof - it's a great way to cool off a building without cranking up the a/c and freezing everyone out. and making everyone sick.

oh my fucking tom cruise. we have rapists, wife beaters and child molesters who don't get charged, but this mcdonald's worker accidentally spills salt on a burger and goes to jail without any evidence? seriously. i'd be doing worse things that that to his next burger.
