once, in a time (not that) long long ago, i kissed a boy who looked just like joey macintyre. at the time i didn't know why i found him so attractive - perhaps it was his arrogance or the fact that he was totally immature for a guy in his 30s - but the next day, i figured it out. he looked just like joey macintyre. when i told my sister (who was also a giant NKOTB fan - she had a BLANKET. which we still have at the cabin and we still fight over when we sleep there), we almost pissed ourselves laughing.

i won't lie. i'd go to a NKOTB concert. just for kicks. (and to maybe try and pick up joey)

the i-pod people.

you know, the matching people with their white ear buds and armbands holding their expensive treasures. i'm now one of them. i've been converted.

see, i only had my crap little old (free) sony mp3 player on my SE asia adventure. it held 47 songs. after numerous bus rides that were several hours in length, let me tell you: i got super sick of those 47 songs. i'd look around enviously at those watching movies, episodes of awesome TV shows, 20000 songs to choose from - so, fuck it.

i have me a shiny new 80GB silver ipod. i'm just playing with it right now, uploading all my music from my laptop onto it. i'll upload some cd's later too, and perhaps some episodes of arrested development. see, my gym has TVs on all the equipment, but it's not connected yet (it's brand spanking new) so at least i can watch some good TV while i toil away on the elliptical trainer.

1. this was some kid's acting audition video; or
2. these are con artists, i mean the kid isn't even allowed to open the box, he makes a bit deal about them being poor (though their little place looks nicer than mine). the parents keep the video on to show them tidying up, refusing the kid's money, and they are sure to throw in the words "sick" and "hospital" at the end. good god i'm surprised they didn't put the little girl in a wheelchair. tell me they don't expect to get on "extreme home makeover";
3. i am a cynical, cynical person (i guess she was a week later than me coming back from vacation); and
4. it explains why meg and i are buddies.

Jan 26, 12:02pm: my living room had a party while i was sleeping.

my guitar is laying out, my guitar tuner (shut up. i can't tune by ear.)has the batteries pulled out of it and there are 2 picks laying on the floor. my knitting needles are strewn about my couch and a half-knit toque is laying beside me. there are all these fabric scraps by my sewing machine and my beading kit is laid out on the coffee table. i have several arrested development DVD cases strewn in front of my DVD player.

or, it could be that i have serious ADD lately and i'm really messy (not dirty. i can't stand dirt. but i'm messy until i snap. which is going to happen in 3-2-1...)

How many times per day do you usually laugh?

oh man. most days, it's a lot. a LOT. i'm a laugher, and a LOUD laugher. i'd say - ooooh...at least 20 times a day. at least. on a bad day, 10. on a good day, 239487293487 bazillion. i like to laugh, and there's no missing my laugh. something else i inherit from my dad.

What do your sunglasses look like?
they're big. and round. i used to be the sporty shade girl, but now i like 'em big and round and covering my face. gives me bad-ass tan lines.

Salad
You win a free trip to anywhere on your continent, but you have to travel by train. Where do you go?

halifax. hands down, halifax. it's clear across the country, it's supposed to be amazing and the lobster is cheap. i think halifax is as far as i possibly CAN go by train. i'd totally take advantage of the free trip. halifax. they drink a lot, too.

Main Course
Name one thing you consider a great quality about living in your town/city.
it's a perfect size. not too big, not too small. if you thought i'd tell you where i live, you're sadly mistaken my friends. but i live in a small city that takes 6 minutes to get out of from where i live, so i'd say it's a-OK. oh - and there's wicked camping/skiing nearby. that's all my friends.

Dessert
If the sky could be another color, what color do you think would look best?

perhaps a nice shade of green. a nice spring green, not dark green. i mean, you already get blue, pink, red, black...why not green? brown is the color of some of the towns i've lived in (coughcoughprincegeorge) and not really flattering, so i go with green. it goes nicely with my eyes (which, i will argue until i die with you people, are green.)

Jan 25, 9:30pm: you know what i love? unexpected awesome nights out.

tonight i:

1. learned that amber thought i was cool shit from day 1. why? because on her resume she mentioned that she wrote for knitty.com (those hard-core cool knitter girls know how awesome this is). during her interview (which was a phone interview) i was all serious, and at the end, when our serious boss asked if anyone had anything else to say, i said "i do. amber: i just want to say. i'm a huge fan of knitty.com and i think it's awesome that you wrote for them." such a professional - i was a groupie from day 1. plus i sent her out dress code at work before her first day so she didn't stress. i totally freaked out my first day when picking my wardrobe, because a: my first job basically accepted pyjamas as acceptable dress (fucking biologists) and b: the guy who i replaced told me we couldn't wear jeans except for friday (he was wearing jeans. and it was tuesday.) and that we couldn't wear t-shirts with prints on them (he wore the same orange CBC t-shirt for 4 days).

2. discovered that cheese fondu in my town still exists, and is really tasty

3. found a guitar teacher in the guitar guy from the jazz band playing at the lounge/fondu place (he loves jack johnson toooooo)

4. drank a lot of wine.

amber is moving to ontario. did i mention that? i'm going to miss her more than i miss that cute boy i met in SE asia. which is a lot. but she's moving for love, and i can so appreciate that.
