aaaaahhh fall. how i love thee. the weather is awesome when you're outside, and when you're inside, you feel far less guilty. i was going to go for a bike ride today but the trails i like to go on have apparently had a cougar sighting, so until my bike buddies are around, i think it's best to not go alone.
so, instead, this weekend was all about my molly homemaker side. i love that side of me but often she gets lost. lucky for me i work with these two incredible women who are both crafty and amazing cooks, so they have inspired me to get my own molly back.
today i, tasha, admittedly sewing retarded, made a fitted baby sling from this awesome pattern that my crafty friend julie gave me. it was like sewing for dummies - it even had pictures. my sewing machine had about an inch of dust on it, and i had to read the instructions again on how to wind my bobbin and thread the needle, but i did it, and here's the finished product.

don't worry. it's not for me. :) i also, with the scraps and part of another long-abandoned sewing project made a super fuzzy soft car seat blanket to match. i swore off buying baby gifts a few years ago, and have gotten tired of just doing the sweaters, though i'm pretty sure i'll be knitting her baby a sweater too, just because she's extra special. but homemade gifts are just so more thoughtful. of course if i know they're never going to use/wear what i give i buy gifts, but most people are super appreciative and send pictures of the said item in use, so it makes me happy. even if the kid wore/used the thing for the 5 minutes it took to take the photo, i'm a happy camper, because i like to live in the land of make believe anyway.
