i never think of myself as having an accent, but i guess i do. in oregon this summer this guy pegged me as canadian in about 5 seconds. but let's be clear - i have a different accent than most stereotypical canadians. eastern canadians sound quite different (a-boot (them) vs. a-bout (like a bout of tuburculosis - us westerners)). i only pick up on a few things with the easterners (except for the newfies, they speak their own goddamn language, newf-a-nese), but last sunday at my sister-in-law's parents place, we had this big family dinner. see, my brother moved out to ontario this fall, and now they're closer to her family (like, right next door close. which is ok because they're super cool. and her brother is cute). anyway, we were talking about bands. they teased me about my accent when i say "band". my brother, also obviously from bc, since we are you know, siblings, well his name is dax. they call it: a dax-ent.
so now i'm all excited that i have this dax-ent over there. so i tried this quiz. and wouldn't you know - i sound like i'm from minnesota. i saw fargo. i sound nothing like that.
