so as i mentioned, i took my parents to the airport yesterday (pre-huge vancouver windstorm) to see them off to new zealand to visit my little sister, who has been travelling for 10 months. they had everything pretty well organized, but were going to be bad-ass and not book a hotel for their first night, and "wing it", after meeting my sister in auckland. she was to fly in a few hours after them. trouble is, she missed her flight, and there was no way to contact my parents, so she left ME a voicemail at my house, and texted me on the cell phone i lost last month that i think is probably really really gone.
in the past 3 hours i have:
1. cracked my sisters voicemail code on her australian cell phone to change her outgoing message as a message to my parents
2. found out which hotel my parents got in NZ using google maps and logical deduction. and lots of phone calls.
3. managed to connect my parents (already in NZ - with no cell phone or email) with my dumbass sister (flying INTO NZ from australia) who missed her flight because she read 16:10 on her itinerary as 6:10.
4. finally used a whack of those international minutes included in my plan, that conveniently don't work when calling cell phones (thus making the whole point of me getting it to call my sister in australia moot).
fuck i should have been a PI.
though my parents weren't surprised she missed her plane. they said tonight "if it had been YOU, we'd have been worried, because you'd never have missed your flight. but shea? we figured it out right away."
what a kid.
